| Brief Information | The book is based on the travel notes of Bishop Grigoris Aghvaniants, one of the prelates of Gandzak Diocese: written between 1890 and 1891, 5 years before the publication of Artsakh by Makar Barkhudariants, these notes contain invaluable information relating to Northern Artsakh collected during a trip Grigoris Aghvaniants made while still the vicar of Gandzak Diocese. The book has two parts, the first one being devoted to Gandzak City, and the second to the villages in its neighbourhood. It contains a lot of important information concerning the history, ethnography, statistics (based on the 1886 population census) as well as the educational and economic life of these places. The work is dedicated to the 196th birth anniversary and 130th death anniversary of Bishop Grigoris Aghvaniants. |
